Xiaomi and Motorola will be the first two makers with Snapdragon 898-powered phones, reliable leakster Digital Chat Station reveals. He says Moto is aiming for a phone launch by the end of the year, but Xiaomi will once again be the pioneer of the new Qualcomm chip.
In the meantime another leakster, IceUniverse, shared the Geekbench scores of the upcoming Snapdragon 898 chip. They come in about 15% higher than the Snapdragon 888 and about 5% better than the 888+. The test undoubtedly ran on non-finalized hardware though, so there might be more performance to unclock.
Qualcomm traditionally launches its new flagship chip in the first days of December. In the past three years, the Xiaomi CEO appeared on the same stage, confirming the maker’s commitment to it. However, with Samsung’s rumored delay of the Galaxy S22 series launch for February 2022, Motorola might edge its Korean competitor for second maker to use it.
